Your school does not offer history courses at the university level, such as IB or AP. The syllabus of your history course is narrowly defined and you are keen to study other geographies or periods. Or maybe you don't have a real history class and are genuinely curious about engaging critically with the human past.
You are prepared to engage with multiple sources and interpretations, to participate in chaotic seminar discussions, and to learn to write effectively. You are not deterred by bombardment with massive amounts of information and merciless dissection of your writing.
Your curriculum prioritizes one view of history, and you want to be able to openly debate different ideas in a more open environment where we don't jump to censor or judge others... we value rigorous and creative intellectual enquiry, not conformity with our own views.
